Measurement Service
Measurement services are available in Stresstech laboratories or on-site for customer convenience.

Whether for regular quality control checks, research/product development, or failure investigation, use our 40 years of experience to help steer your design of experiment to get the most useful data for the least expense.
As an accredited X-ray diffraction (XRD) laboratory we perform measurements using internationally recognized standard practices for measuring residual stress and retained austenite.
Utilizing Barkhausen noise analysis (BNA) on ferromagnetic parts we provide large scale qualitative, nondestructive analysis leading us to areas of interest that could otherwise be missed.
With ESPI hole drilling method we utilize electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) to determine surface displacements and calculate residual stresses.
Measurement services are ideal for:
- jump-starting your testing needs before making an equipment purchase
- required data validation
- supporting your current laboratory
Our measurement specialists will work with you to evaluate your needs.
Laboratory capabilities
- Residual stress measurement with calculated planar principal stresses using XRD
- Retained austenite measurement using XRD
- Electrochemical material removal for subsurface evaluation without introducing stresses or microstructure changes to perform depth profiling
- Detecting near surface defects in ferromagnetic materials by using qualitative BNA
- Semi-automated residual stress depth profiling by ESPI hole drilling, usually reserved for poorly diffracting or non-crystalline materials
- From 0.3 mm measurement spot size and up to 3000 lb components for in lab testing and everything in between
Accredited for the following measurements:
RESIDUAL STRESS:
- EN 15305
- ASTM E915
- SAE HS-784
- ASTM E2860
RETAINED AUSTENITE:
- ASTM E975
- SAE 800426
