From science to industry

Barkhausen noise in science
Barkhausen noise analysis is a non-destructive testing method involving the measurement of a noise-like signal induced in a ferromagnetic material by an applied magnetic field. The phenomenon is studied at universities and research centers around the world to evaluate the mechanical and structural characteristics of ferromagnetic materials.
Barkhausen noise in industry
In the 1980s, the first Barkhausen noise applications were used in steel rolling mills and crankshaft manufacturers who were testing for grinding burn damage from the manufacturing process. Today, the Barkhausen noise method is used in automotive, aerospace, energy, and other manufacturing industries as well as universities and research institutes.
